Say Goodbye to Toothache

A persistent toothache is often a sign of an infected tooth, and it’s not something you should ignore.

A root canal treatment is a routine procedure to remove an infection and save the tooth.

But forget everything you’ve ever heard about root canal procedures—we make the whole process straightforward and painless.

Understanding Infection

Although teeth are hard and bone-like, they are not bone as they cannot heal themselves. Every tooth is made up of four layers. Each tooth contains dental pulp below the three harder outer layers. Pulp is a mixture of connective tissue and nerve endings. These living tissues are found in the pulp chamber and the root canals.

A tooth can become infected when bacteria enter it through a cavity, chip, or crack. As the tissue tries to fight the bacteria, it becomes inflamed. This swelling presses against the nerve endings, causing severe toothache.

Like any other infection, it will spread. You could lose your tooth and develop an abscess and gum and jaw problems. An infection that spreads beyond the tooth could eventually find its way into the blood, leading to sepsis.

The symptoms of infection include:

  • Toothache
  • Sensitivity in tooth
  • Swelling in your gums and cheeks
  • Tooth turns black or grey
  • Bad breath and bad taste in your mouth
  • Pus around tooth

What to Expect From Your Root Canal Treatment?

Root canal treatment is usually performed in a single appointment by our endodontic experts, Dr Tilly Rayment and Dr Amit Devlukia.

We will give an anaesthetic to prevent discomfort, tell you what to expect, and provide reassurance throughout.

The process is simple. We will remove the infected dental pulp and sanitise the tooth so it’s bacteria-free before filling the heart of your tooth using a natural material. Finally, we will close your tooth using a white filling.

You should consider returning to the clinic later to have a crown placed on the healed tooth to protect it from further damage, decay, and infection. We can discuss this at your appointment.

Root Benefits

Save the Tooth

Root canal treatment gets to the heart of the problem. we will remove any infected matter to preserve your tooth. Don’t worry — the treatment is painless.

Stop the Pain

The toothache caused by an infection is often excruciating, affecting your ability to eat, sleep, and talk. This will be just a memory after your root canal treatment, as the pain will have gone.

Prevent the Spread

If left untreated, your infection could cause an abscess and problems in neighbouring teeth, gums, and jaw. Infections can even spread to the rest of the body. A root canal treatment removes the cause and puts an end to the infection.

Preserve Your Smile

We always aim to preserve the infected tooth. Without treatment, you will lose your tooth, leaving a gap in your smile. Early treatment helps you keep your smile as it is.
